The coal ash spill

Pollution is everywhere on planet earth, in the water, in the skies, and it dominates the land, making parts of the world not safe for both wildlife and humans, but here in NC, the COAL ASH SPILL is the biggest accident in the entire state. The coal ash spill happened on February 12 2014, and I was surprised that this major spill happened just 2 months ago. On February 28th, after the coal ash spill happened, I learned about it while working. Duke energy caused the coal ash spill because a boat with coal ash sunk spilling all of the coal ash into the water of the Dan river so if you live close to that river and like to go swimming in it, be careful not to swallow any water, because coal ash is still in that water, and it is deadly to all wildlife including macro invertebrates like mayflies who are pollution intolerant. By now, I think duke energy got sued because of all of that pollution and coal ash spilled into the Dan river. Fish like catfish, bass, and bream have died because of this accident, and all animals in the river are suffering, so if you ever see the Dan river, think about the coal ash spill and all of the animals that have either suffered or died in the accident.

Clear cutting of trees

Clear cutting in the forest is bad for all the animals living in the forest. Animals like birds, squirrels, rattlesnakes, and raccoons might die, or even become sick from thinking the pieces of wood and bark, and also, it can clog up their windpipes and cause them to choke. Clear cutting is when you take a part in the forest and completely cut it all down. What I say, is that people once they cut down a tree, they should plant another one in it's place, and that is called seed-tree cutting, when you cut down a tree and plant another one in it's place, so the forest can continue growing. Without trees, we will not have any oxygen, because the trees produce the oxygen we are breathing in right now. When I grow up if I can, I will try to prevent clear cutting best I can, along with protecting all of the forest animals at the same time. If I were looing for woods and forest animals to protect, I will turn to Alaska because, it is the largest state in the U.S.A. with more than enough forest and animals to protect and preserve. As you can see clear cutting is OK, but don't go too far or else before you know it, you will have a entire field of stumps.

Plants and animals of the Sonora desert

The Sonora desert is a hot and dry place, home to animals like the Gila monster, Panther, Horned lizard, and Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. Plants like the Saguaro cactus, are good places for animals to take shelter from predators like bats, and elf owls. People should care about the desert and its animals because deserts can be one of the only homes that houses some of the rarest animals in North America. . Some exotic (invasive) animals like the gecko kill the native animals in the desert, and it is our job to keep their populations under control. If I ever journey to the Sonora or any other types of deserts, I will stop and look at all the plants and animals and think about how hard it is for them to cope and survive in this harsh climate. Even if you are in the desert. stop and think about all the animals and plants you have seen or hoping the see cope with life in the big, harsh, hot, and amazing Sonora desert.
